WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CYCLING TOUR AND SPORT CYCLING?
Cycle touring is slow, you can stop and take photos, it's a journey.
You want to return home filled with experiences, emotions, and memories, and you immediately have to ask yourself, "Where will I go next time?"
Sport cycling is suitable for those with a well-structured cycling training program.
The stages are longer, and the elevation gain is sometimes significant, especially if the Tours are in high mountains, like the Dolomites. Without the right training, it would be torture, not pleasure.

HOW MUCH TRAINING DO YOU NEED TO DO FOR CYCLING TOUR?
It depends on the route.
Do you want to cycle along the Tuscany coast or in a flat area? Training isn't important.
Do you want to cycle in the Alpine Mountains or the Dolomites? Do you want to conquer the peaks of the Giro d'Italia?
Then training becomes important, otherwise it won't be a pleasure but only a pain.

WHAT IS THE BEST TIME FOR CYCLING IN TUSCANY?
In recent years, the cycling season has been lengthening, and I'd say the best times are from MARCH to JUNE, then SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER, and possibly even until the end of NOVEMBER.
JULY and AUGUST, in recent years, Tuscany has been very hot.
It's advisable to choose mountainous areas, the Apennines are certainly a good choice for milder temperatures, but they require a certain level of training.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO ORGANIZE A BIKE TRIP?
It depends on the number of people participating, the type of services chosen, and the type of trip.
The guide service has a daily cost; clearly, the more people participating, the lower the per-person cost and therefore the more convenient it is.

TYPES OF BIKES

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN GRAVEL BIKES AND MTBS?
There are various types of mountain bikes: downhill, enduro, and cross-country.
Downhill and enduro are full-suspension bikes and are used for downhill riding; enduro involves climbing, but the main goal is to go as fast as possible on the downhills.
Cross-country bikes are used for other types of terrain, with climbs and descents. Sometimes they only have a front suspension fork, but the most modern ones are full-suspension. With a mountain bike, you can go practically anywhere.
Gravel bikes are bikes with large wheels, almost as large as mountain bikes, with more or less knobby tires depending on the type of tire used.
They were designed for both on-road and off-road riding (white roads). They are slightly lighter than an MTB, have a more road-like stance, and therefore allow for slightly faster riding than an MTB.
With a gravel bike, it's important to choose the right roads; otherwise, it's no longer a pleasure but a living hell, I tell you from experience.

CAN I GO CYCLING TOUR WITH A ROAD BIKE?
YES, you can cycling tour on a road bike, of course.
The ROAD BIKE remains the most popular bike for cycling tour today.

IS THE E-BIKE SUITABLE FOR CYCLING TOUR?
YES, e-bikes are suitable for cycling tour.
You may need to be a little careful when choosing the right type of e-bike for your tour, and you'll need to check for charging stations along the route in case you run out of battery.

WHAT BIKE DO YOU RECOMMEND FOR A BEGINNER?
The bike I recommend for a beginner is one that's as comfortable as possible.
The bike, however, must be suitable for the type of tour you're going on.

Bikepacking is done with bags, specifically designed for this purpose, which can be mounted on any type of bike: ROAD, GRAVEL, MTB, E-BIKE.

HOW MUCH DOES A GRAVEL BIKE WEIGH?
Bike weight varies from size to size, but the difference between one size and another is approximately 100 grams.
The biggest difference in weight between two bikes is due to the material they're made of aluminum, steel, carbon, titanium or the groupset or wheelset.
The same applies to any other type of bike, whether road or mountain bike.
Nowadays, there are the lightest gravel bikes, which weigh around 7 kg, and are used for gravel racing, intermediate bikes, around 9 kg, are also quite light, and then they can weigh up to 12 kg or more.

QUESTIONS ABOUT SERVICES

WHAT DOES A GUIDED CYCLING TOUR INCLUDE?
A Guided Cycling Tour includes several aspects.
Planning, studying the area, choosing the route characteristics, and directing the client towards the route best suited to their technical knowledge.
A good guide will strive to personalize each Tour and Experience they create.
The routes will be carefully chosen, paying the utmost attention to safety and providing the most authentic experience possible.

CAN I CUSTOMIZE THE TOUR ROUTE?
Yes, you can customize a Tour route.
If the Tour is for road bikes, you can easily change a small section.
If the Tour is for gravel or mountain biking, unless I've already ridden that section during a scouting, it must be planned well in advance, preferably months.
It's not easy to change a gravel or mountain bike route, several scouting are necessary to design the best possible route.

ARE THE TOURS SUITABLE FOR BEGINNERS? HOW LONG DOES A CYCLING TOUR LAST?
There are tours for various levels.
There are family options, suitable for all levels, including children.
There are daily tours for various levels, from beginners to the most athletic and fit.
There are weekly tours, suitable for beginners who ride at least 2-3 times a week.
There are tours lasting several weeks, which I don't recommend for beginners, it's best to at least gain experience on a weekly tour and better assess your own abilities.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING ON A CYCLE TOUR?
What you need to bring for a cycle tour depends on the type of trip you choose.
Family tours, water, a camera, and a desire to relax. A helmet is mandatory, it's usually included with bike rental, as is a puncture repair kit.
For daily or weekly tours, all your technical clothing, helmet, glasses and gloves, jersey, shorts, technical underwear and specific socks, GPS, rain or wind jacket for emergencies, and a lightweight windproof shell, there are ultralight models (even under 50 grams) that fold easily and are extremely practical to carry in your pocket. Finally, complete your kit with cycling shoes and, if you're used to using them, a helmet and shoe covers.

It's essential to carry an emergency kit consisting of at least one spare inner tube, tire levers, and a mini pump (or a CO2 dispenser).
Don't worry about more complex repairs, though, the guide and, if applicable, the support van will have specific tools and extra spare parts available to ensure assistance if needed and quickly resolve any mechanical issues.

ARE THE TOURS AVAILABLE YEAR-ROUND?
I could say yes, the tours are available year-round, why not? It obviously depends on the destination you choose.
If you go abroad, you can do so even when it's the middle of winter in Italy.
Generally, the best weather conditions in Italy are from March to October.
I recommend traveling to the mountains in June/July/August, because the temperatures are more tolerable.
On the plains, temperatures can reach 40 degrees Celsius, and cycling in the sun at 40 degrees Celsius is certainly not pleasant, and there's a very high risk of heatstroke.
December, January, and February are usually the coldest months.

CAN I PARTICIPATE IN THE TOUR WITH MY OWN BIKE?
Of course, you can participate in the Tour with your own bike.
However, it would be best to prepare your bike for the Tour to avoid any problems.
A check-up by your trusted mechanic before the Tour is the best thing to do.
You need tires in excellent condition, a working chain, and a functioning brake system, as well as other routine checks to ensure your bike is in perfect working order.

HOW MANY PEOPLE PARTICIPATE IN A TOUR?
The maximum number of people per guide is 8-10.
If the group is larger, two guides may accompany the group. However, for optimal tour management, at certain points along the route, especially the busiest ones, it may be necessary to split the group in two.
If the tour has van assistance, the other guide rides in the van, and the two guides usually alternate, leading the group one day at a time.
However, it could also be that the cycling guide leads the group, and the van is driven by a random person who provides technical assistance, who isn't necessarily a cycling guide.

WHY CHOOSE A GROUP TRIP?
The reasons can be varied.
You can choose a group trip because everything is already organized, you don't have to worry about anything.
You can choose to share the experience with others,  because there are many moments of togetherness and conviviality on a tour.
You can choose a group trip for emotional and motivational support.
You can be encouraged by others to push yourself beyond your limits, you can share the effort, and the satisfaction of having reached your goal on your own two feet.

QUESTIONS ABOUT THE ROUTES

WHAT ARE THE BEST GRAVEL ROUTES IN TUSCANY?
WHAT ARE THE MOST BEAUTIFUL ROADS IN TUSCANY?
Rather than routes, it would be better to talk about areas where you can find the most beautiful gravel routes.
The best areas for gravel are definitely San Gimignano, Siena, Crete Senesi, Monteroni d'Arbia, Buonconvento, Pienza, Montalcino, Radda in Chianti, and Gaiole in Chianti. These are undoubtedly the home of the ROADS and the EROICA.
But excellent gravel routes can be found in other parts of Tuscany. Gravel has to be sought out, it takes time, site inspections, and miles and miles of riding.
I say, "NOT EVERY DIRT ROAD IS GOOD GRAVEL."

HOW DO I GET TO THE TOUR STARTING POINT?
Can I get there however I want: by plane, train, or car?
I assume that if you arrive by car, there won't be any problems, you can easily reach the tour starting point.
If you arrive by plane or train, there will certainly be a transfer. The tour operator usually schedules the transfer time, otherwise, you can book a private car.

ARE THERE ROUTES SUITABLE FOR FAMILIES?
WHAT ARE THE EASIEST ROUTES FOR BEGINNERS?
The tours include routes suitable for families and beginners.
They are usually Leisure Tours, where the goal is to enjoy the ride, but the emphasis is more on enjoying the area, cultural visits, and good food.
There are also Family Tours or Experiences, with fewer kilometres, easier roads, and fun, rewarding experiences.
